Community
As a neighborhood school, Jackson Academy is part of the Sheffield Community and a member of the LeFleur East District of Jackson. Centrally located, the school’s convenience and community draw families and friends throughout the metropolitan area and neighboring cities to the school for events, activities, and a great education.
Jackson Academy invites the community to enjoy sporting events, musicals and plays, the spring Color Me Raider Run, and the annual JA Carnival, one of Jackson’s longest-running community festivals. In addition to an 800-seat Performing Arts Center, a multipurpose turf field, and basketball courts accessed from the Ridgewood Road parking area, JA’s Raider Park on Sheffield Drive includes a six-court tennis complex, baseball field and field house, softball field, practice field, track and soccer field, and concession stand.
JA has opened its facilities for school and community groups, such as recent MAIS A, AA, and AAA football championships, MHSAA sporting events, area colleges, and non-profit groups, such as Joni and Friends Dodge Ball and the Mississippi Wheelcats. The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the International Ballet, the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet, and Ballet Magnificat have occupied the Performing Arts Center, which is also available for rental.
