Belhaven University’s Chemistry Department Chair, Dr. Brandon Magers, and his student, Kerany Un, visited Upper School chemistry classes to discuss mathematical calculations used in chemistry and how they apply to other science areas.
Dr. Magers also shared with students various paths to many STEM careers available to them. JA students performed calculations on their iPads with Dr. Magers and Un. AP Chemistry and Dual Enrollment Chemistry students were enlightened about how the basics they’re learning in Richard West and Cori Ciacco’s classes build up to what is taught in college courses.
“It was great to hear from one of Coach West’s former students about a side of chemistry that I did not know existed!” said junior Logan Rohman. “I think that learning about the different branches of science is beneficial to discover what you might want to pursue in the future.”
