Stancie Ley’s Upper School physics class worked on Rube Goldberg projects last week. A Rube Goldberg machine is an over-engineered contraption that performs a very simple task in a very complicated fashion, like a chain reaction. Kinetic and potential energy and simple machines are always involved. The expression “Rube Goldberg” is named after the American cartoonist and inventor of the same name who lived from 1883 to 1970. Check out our video to see the students’ work.
