Sharing one campus means so much to the JA family. Yesterday, Book Buddies, a pairing of sixth graders and first graders, enjoyed the sunshine while conducting interviews. Sixth graders queried their first grade counterparts, using questions prepared in advance.
On Friday, fourth grader Emmy Cannady represented Jackson Academy at the MAIS Overall Spelling Bee hosted by Hartfield Academy. Emmy competed in the Lower School spelling bee and the MAIS District Bee before advancing to the Overall Bee.
On November 11, 1919, Americans observed the first anniversary of the First World War’s end. This day of solemn remembrance was called Armistice Day and was celebrated in honor of all those who served during the war.
Caldecott Medal-winning author Philip C. Stead joined K5 and first grade classrooms via Zoom last Thursday! Organized by Preschool librarian Ali Dinkins and in partnership with Lemuria Books, Stead video chatted with Lower School students to help promote the importance of reading and writing, which is crucial to the Jackson Academy curriculum.
Last Friday, the Class of 2034 delightedly welcomed their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, and other father figures to campus. Tables set up around the amphitheater waited for the students and their guests, laden with pumpkins ready to be decorated.
