Congratulations to the Upper School students honored at Awards Day 2022 and Senior Awards Night!
Jackson Academy’s band returned from its Smoky Mountain excursion with three first-place trophies and an abundance of great experiences. The trip centered around the Smoky Mountain Music Festival where the band captured top awards in concert, marching, color guard categories.
Eight Jackson Academy students gained insight into the inner workings of government through positions as pages this school year.
Jackson Academy’s show choirs, Showtime and Encore, recently concluded their competition season. Over the past three months, the groups have traveled and competed against some of the top show choirs in the state, the Southeast, and the country, finding success at all levels of competition.
Established to recognize scholastic achievement in secondary schools, the Cum Laude Society has granted charters to only four schools in Mississippi. Jackson Academy’s chapter welcomed many new members in an induction ceremony last Tuesday morning.
Juniors and Seniors gathered under the Big Top Saturday night for the “Greatest Show on Earth!” They had the time of their lives together, experiencing a magical night of dancing, carnival games, and delicious carnival foods.
The Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M. B. Swayze Foundation has named Jackson Academy seniors Gibson Cheney and Sandon Guild as STAR Students for the 2021-2022 school year. The STAR program encourages and promotes academic achievement among Mississippi’s high school seniors.
Each year the university gives its most prestigious scholarship to 10-12 of the most outstanding incoming freshmen who demonstrate excellence in academics, test scores, and high school and community leadership.
Stancie Ley’s sixth-period physics class is now full of award-winning students. Back in October, as part of the physics curriculum, Ley’s class created a Rube Goldberg machine. As a team, they used their physics knowledge of energy, momentum, and trajectory to design and create a working Rube Goldberg machine.
