Jackson Academy announced today that JA freshman Bailey Berry has been named a Jernberg Scholar. The scholarship celebrates JA President Emeritus Peter Jernberg’s significant influence on independent education with the hope that each recipient will, in turn, become an individual who makes an impact on his or her school and community through academics and character.

Future Christian Leaders

Each year, Mississippi Christian Living magazine, in partnership with Belhaven University, recognizes high school seniors as future Christian leaders. We are pleased to announce that three JA students were chosen with 21 other finalists. Miles Johnson, Sydney Morris, and Anna Katherine Ray will be recognized on March 3 at Belhaven University, from there, two students out of the 24 will be selected to receive scholarships.

JA Competes at Mu Alpha Theta Math Tournament

Congratulations to the Jackson Academy students who placed third overall in the Mu Alpha Theta math competition last week! The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science has hosted the event for more than 20 years to give students from across the state the opportunity to engage in a competitive math tournament. Thirty JA students from grades eight through twelve traveled to compete against 27 other teams from across the state.

Alpha and Omega Sends Love Overseas

Each year at JA, kindergarteners and seniors are matched with one another to form a mentoring relationship through the Alpha and Omega program. Their connection is evident when they see each other, often greeting one another with a big hug. Throughout the year they do many activities together. At times they have played basketball together and enjoyed picnics on the football field, but this month things got a bit more meaningful.
