Reading Curriculum Focuses on Character Values

The regular second grade reading curriculum at Jackson Academy has numerous stories that tie to character values, such as responsibility, friendship, and honesty. On Friday, the stories of Aesop’s Fables came to life as second graders portrayed the lion and the mouse, the shepherd boy and the wolf, the lazy grasshopper and the ant, the tortoise and the hare, and many other tales to an auditorium of parents and grandparents.

Life Skills Day Prepares Seniors

All year long, Jackson Academy seniors look forward to their Life Skills Day, where they get out of the classroom, learn new skills, and gain new experiences. This program seeks to equip seniors with non-classroom experiences needed for daily living.

Fourth Graders Preview Middle School

Last Thursday, fourth graders ventured to the fifth grade hallway to preview their upcoming entry into Middle School. They met their future fifth grade teachers here, visited future fifth grade classrooms, practiced switching classes, and heard testimonies from current fifth graders.

MSMS Math Competition Results

Last Thursday, 20 students traveled to Columbus, Mississippi, to represent Jackson Academy at the annual MSMS Math Competition. After meeting virtually last year, the students were glad to be able to compete in person this year.

Jackson Academy Celebrates Soccer Championship

The Raiders entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the Division 1 Soccer Semifinals, advancing to the State Championship Game yesterday. The Raiders won their second straight State Championship beating Hartfield Academy 4-2 for JA’s 10th State Soccer title.

Each year, Mississippi Christian Living magazine, in partnership with Belhaven University, recognizes high school seniors as future Christian leaders. We are pleased to announce that three JA students were chosen amongst many other finalists. Regan Felder, Anna Carlisle Nichols, and John Wicks III will be recognized on March 1 at Belhaven University.
