Color Me Raider is an annual fundraiser for the JA Athletic Booster Club. Registration is now open at jacksonacademy.org/colormeraider for this event! The races will be on Thursday, April 4 with the 5k starting at 5:30 p.m. and the Fun Run starting at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday night at Mississippi College, the Raiders defeated MRA for their fifth MAIS Overall Basketball Championship. The Raiders won their last 22 games in a row, finishing the season at 36-1, which is the best record in school history. The team’s lone loss came to 7A Pascagoula in December.
The Mississippi Economic Council M.B. Swayze Foundation announced this month that Jackson Academy seniors Noah Pressler and Gautam Ray are STAR Students for the 2023-24 school year. The foundation selects STAR Students based on academic excellence, factoring in standardized test scores and scholastic averages.
“If Jesus came in a body, how does that change how we see bodies?” asked Licensed Professional Counselor Mary Kathryn Evans before a group of nearly 100 high school girls. JA won last night’s MAIS Overall Semifinal game over Oak Forest 38-35. JA advances to the MAIS Overall Tournament championship game on Wednesday, February 28, at 7:45 p.m. in a match-up vs. MRA.
JA’s mascot, Raiderman, celebrated his birthday with the help of hundreds of children. He appeared in the cafeteria, classrooms, the amphitheater, and at the flagpole bearing cupcakes and a cake to help students observe his twenty-fourth year.
On Friday, first-grade grandparents traveled from near and far to be with their grandchildren for a special day at Jackson Academy.
The Raiders capped off a successful weekend in Madison Saturday night with JA’s tenth MAIS State Basketball Championship as they took home the 6A crown with a thrilling 54-53 victory over Jackson Prep. JA had four players make the All-Tournament Team.
The week that included Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras was so SWEET! Ambassadors and math honor society students welcomed younger students during morning carpool on Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day with festive music, decorations, and costumes.
The National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society recognize students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Today, JA inducted 24 Middle School students and 38 Upper School students.
