Middle School Classrooms Observe Patriot Day

Last Friday, organizations and individuals throughout our nation paused to commemorate those who lost their lives in the devastating terrorist attacks of 2001. Current JA students were born into a world continuing to wrestle with the wake of the attacks, and have never waited at the gate to see a loved one off on a flight. We visited three Middle School classrooms to see different ways of observing Patriot Day.

Three JA Ninth Graders Attend Trent Lott Leadership Institute

Each year, the Trent Lott Leadership Institute for Rising Ninth Graders accepts 50 students from the state of Mississippi. In 2020, three of those students were from JA. Blair Wilson, Red Deaton, and Benjamin Watson were nominated in December of 2019 and earned their place in the program through a two-part application process that focused on their leadership backgrounds and aspirations.

Jackson Academy is delighted to welcome students back to campus beginning tomorrow, with K3 Meet Me in the morning and Upper School attending the traditional half day on Wednesday. All grades will be on campus starting Thursday. We also welcome students who are returning through JA’s distance learning option.
