Last week, JA celebrated the heroes of the United States who have served in the military, both past and present. At the Lower School Patriotic Day on November 9, honored guests from the Armed Forces were invited to stand while the song that represented their branch of service played. The inaugural junior high Scholars’ Bowl team competed in the MAIS State tournament on Wednesday, November 1. The Raiders finished seventh place overall. The Scholars’ Bowl team is composed of sixth and seventh grade students and coached by Brandon Richardson.

On Friday, the Class of 2036 delightedly welcomed their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures to campus. Tables set up in the Activities Building were laden with pumpkins ready to be decorated. Quiz Bowl Begins with a Win

JA’s Upper School Quiz Bowl team defeated Brandon High 315 to 180 in its first match of the year at the Mississippi College Academic Tournament. The win advances the team to the next round of competition, the quarter-finals. JA’s next match in the Mississippi College Academic Tournament will be against Jackson Prep on November 14.

Cross Country Performs at MAIS Overall Cross Country State Meet

Six of the JA’s cross country runners showcased their talent by finishing within the Top 25. The varsity boys displayed an impressive performance, securing a third-place finish. Additionally, all junior varsity runners achieved personal record times in their races and had an overall finish of seventh place. This success highlights their determination, progress, and growth.

JA First MAIS Team to Win Five Straight State Volleyball Championships

JA has been the standard bearer in volleyball for over the past decade, having appeared in every title game since 2012. The Lady Raiders are the only team to have ever won four straight titles and to do it twice – from 2014-2017 and from 2019-2022. Volleyball also has a four year run on the Mississippi Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year.
